6 weeks

So now that it has been 6 weeks since I have been in Luxembourg...I think I need a vacation.....hehe..For those of you who do not know I am going to the Olympics this Friday for a men's semi final ice hockey game....I am pretty pumped.......
then Friday after the game me and Savannah are taking an overnight train to Rome.....And then we are staying in Rome until Tuesday....... Then we are taking a train to Venice until Thursday and then to Florence to visit mandy! Until Sunday....
I mean with all this stress of traveling abroad I am really glad they give us a week after mid-terms to relax....And then for two weeks before finals....That was sarcasm....
but seriously I am very excited... Savannah and I have become world class travel agents for ourselves.....We have every detail planned for transportation and have decided to take our time in all the places we go because it is more important to enjoy it then to see everything.....

I love you this will be my only update probably until I get back !!!!

Strasbourg, not to be confused with Salzburg

This weekend i went on a wine tasting tour in Luxembourg Friday evening...we went on an hour tour of the factory "usine" in french, and then tried the best wine...We saw how they used to bottle the wine a long time ago, and how they used to store it. Now they add just enough air to take the juice and leave the pit and stems in the container..pretty amazing.....

Saturday i took a train to Strasbourg france...amazing!! and i did it all by myself...
on the train i sat with this adorable older couple...and the man tried to explain to me in french that he had to sit by me because we were facing forward and if he didnt face forward he would get sick....rather humorous considering he used a lot of gestures and noises....After walking around for a while getting lost (not to lost dont worry mom) i found a cathedral of notre dame...it was breathe taking...i also went to the museum of notre dame..which was pretty cool as well.. the best part was there was a whole marble creation of mt olives i had never seen one so detailed ever!!.....also there was a really cool clock there......

On Sunday i went to lunch with Carlo and Danie to carlo's brothers house...and i watched a Disney movie in french with Fynn who is 2....he can understand english most of it, can speak a little french, and speaks luxembourgish....Amazing and totally jealous.....

on sunday i studied for my history mid-term who would of thought i would have to go to school while in europe what a concept.......

ps this is week 6 and friday i leave for italy...i am so excited and i cant wait....watch me at the men semi final hockey game friday at 4:30 our time so 10:30 you time i am pretty sure

and then i snowshoed

This weekend i went to Interlaken! The train ride was only 6 hours this time...an improvement When we got off the train, we navigated our way through Interlaken and all of the sudden there were huge large black shadows in the background of the city. Once in our hostel we caught the end of the opening ceremonies. Saturday we walked around town and grabbed a quick lunch after our disappointing breakfast just toast and jam....Around 12:30 we got fitted for our snow shoes and headed up the "evening mountain" to snowtrekk or snow shoe through the swiss alps....we started out kind of slow do to the amount of shoes that would come undone.....with 12 girl it is bound to happen.....It was such a work out.....we had such a good time although we were extremely exhausted...we stopped at a bar in the swiss alps and got a applepunch (a honey apple tea) and ate swiss mountain cheese and bread. yummy!!!! We took a nap after our 3 hr hike finish..and then went to an amazing italian restaurant off of a main street. Sunday we woke up and went on a 45 min walk each way to a 13th century castle...the view from the top is amazing......!!!

Everything so far has been breath-taking and perfect!!!

Love you!!

Sprechen Sie Englisch

that means do you speak english in german...which became my most quotable phrase over the weekend....This weekend was Salzburg, Austria- the birth place of mozart (whose birth-year it is), the Von Trapp Family, and also Red Bull.
Friday we started with leaving from school at 1:02....and after changing trains twice....we finally arrived at our hostel at 1:40..talk about a long day..we looked at it as if we had just driven to New York City so we could spend the day there...which kind of put a damper on friday night...
The 1st train was smoky and it made everyone very very grumpy......
The 2nd train we need to reserve a seat...but luckily we just kind of sat down and only one of the four had to move....
The 3rd train there was a creepy drunk man who all he knew in english was why hello there...but we pretended to get off the train and really just moved down 3 cars......

Saturday- We head up to the Fort which over looked all of Salzburg. It was a little overcast and a little snowy but it made for some great sights....After a tour of the inside and a little lunch we headed back for our Sound of Music Tour...
The whole tour was about 5 hours....We started out with the fountain (do-re-mi) and continued to follow the whole movie throughout Salzburg and the Alps... (pictures are amazing..on webshots already) we had crisp apple steudle and we wore our warm wooly mittens....We saw the real von trapp family home which was really cool.....Our tour guide was amazing....we had sing-a-longs in the car and every time we would get to a place he would tell us..."go over there and i make a picture"
Then Saturday night we attended a Mozart concert, since he was born there and everything.....it was different than any other musical performance i have ever been too......there were only four people playing in a room of about 100 people......but the music was a nice way to round out our experience.....

Sunday- we took 12 more hours of trains home.....and then i passed out from lack of energy!!!

But it was an amazing trip and i now know more about the sound of music then any one every should.....
